Welcome! Each school year presents new challenges for all of us; but it also provides an opportunity for us to implement new classroom techniques, teaching strategies and enhance our creative ideas. We work very diligently as a family (faculty, parents, students and community) to make our school, a school of excellence in the Camden City School District. We welcome each school year with a great deal of enthusiasm to meet the greater challenges ahead in educating our children, our most precious resources.

Powell Students Help Haiti

Powell Elementary School is in partnership with Asbury United Methodist Church in support of Haiti. We have been busy collecting Health Kit Items for the Haitians like hand towels, washcloths, combs, nail files, clippers, soap, toothbrushes, and bandages. Many have also donated money to help out.
Teacher of the Year - 2009-10

Congratulations to Mrs. Charae Perry! Mrs. Perry believes that all children should be given the opportunity to learn in a safe and caring environment so that they can become productive citizens of our society. She believes that one must have a clear vision for student achievement and learning. She believes children learn more and enjoy learning when they are actively involved, rather than passive listeners. Effective learning is enhanced by active participation, reflection, and social interaction. It is very important that teachers engage students in various styles of learning and make their time with you memorable, meaningful, and fun.
